Arizona Golden Rescue

Zoey is a cute, young, little Golden mix we rescued from the Arizona Humane Society. Initially cautious and scared in the kennel there, she immediately brightened when leashed and taken outdoors. Freedom is a heady thing. This dog has loads of potential, and was quickly adopted by an adoptive couple. Zoey’s new name is Willow. She is the kind of dog who thrives in a home situation but does not show well in a kennel environment and is consequently passed over for adoption. We are so glad she has found a happy, new life. Willow herself wrote to us to let us know her life is now wonderful.

Hi! My name is Willow. Little did I know how much my life would change on April 4, 2014, my “gotcha day.” I went from living at the Arizona Humane Society to living with my new forever family. Wow! I hit the jackpot! I have an acre to run on and chase lizards, my own bed, and I get lots and lots of love and attention. I know I am completely different from the three Goldens Mommy and Daddy have had before. Hey, I am a Golden mix, heavy on the mix part! I came to my new mommy and daddy with very severe fear issues. They were told it might just be kennel stress, but it goes much deeper than that. No one but me knows the whole story of my first two-and-a-half years, and I’m not telling. What I will tell you is that now my life is wonderful! We go on trips to our cabin in New Mexico, and we go on adventures in our travel trailer. I am a great hiker, very very smart, extremely agile and very dependable in the house. At only 35 pounds I am on the small side. I am also quite beautiful, and I have ears that have their own personality. I am still scared of meeting new people but we are working on it. I have been to obedience school and a behavior/vet specialist, I do behavior modification exercises, and I am now on anti-anxiety medication. I love my Mommy and Daddy and they love me!
