Arizona Golden Rescue

22-014 Apollo was a 7-month-old black Goldendoodle who came to AGR in February with a broken left hind leg that his owners could not afford to fix. We were told he broke the leg jumping off the stairs onto a hardwood floor. During his recovery from surgery when he had very restricted activity, he was fostered by an AGR foster couple in Glendale . After a couple weeks, he was placed with an adoptive couple in Phoenix – they had previously adopted another Goldendoodle, 21-053 Sedona. The adopter's first comment was: 

This puppy is so sweet! We all hung out in the back room last night and he was content. Gave him pain meds at bedtime – could tell he was a bit sore from activity of the day! Slept through the night, no issues. I used a small ponytail band and pulled the hair out of his eyes – I think he likes being able to see! I'm going to rotate different toys thru his pen each day... he was happy to check out some new things this morning. Sedona is curious and hangs out in the back room, but her nose is a little bent out of shape! I soooo look forward to the day he and Sedona can just run and play together. Just another great reminder to all of us... don’t take the small stuff for granted! 

After placement, Apollo, whose name was changed to Bentley, still needed our entire standard vet work-up with all vaccines, tests for heartworm and valley fever, and eventual neuter . Unfortunately, he tested positive for valley fever so he was started on fluconazole. When asked about how Bentley has fit into their household, the adopter wrote: 

Bentley came to us shortly after surgery on his left hind leg. Keeping an eight-month-old puppy quiet was a full time job! But he handled it like a trooper and was so happy and loving. Since being cleared by the orthopedic doctor his favorite thing to do is RUN! He had several months of being confined to make up for! He’ll chase tennis balls, birds and his sister, Sedona. He is very toy motivated and is especially interested in stuffed animals... game over once the stuff- ing and noise makers have been properly removed. He and Sedona have become best buddies and are almost always found together in the same room or area of the yard. They love to wrestle, chase and play tug-of-war with one another. Bentley LOVES everyone; whether on a walk, in our home or out and about in public. And he is the happiest, most joyful dog... the laughter, amusement and cheer he has brought into our lives is incomparable. He has no fear, and we lovingly refer to him as the “wild child,” as he runs, jumps and plays hard with so much enthusiasm, joy and love for life and his family. Thank you to AGR for bringing this pup into our lives and home... we are better people and happier because of Bentley. 

Bentley was issued an adoption addendum for a valley fever retest .
