Arizona Golden Rescue

22-064 Tilly , a beautiful, spayed English Cream Golden, came into Rescue at one year of age because she was food obsessed, and her owners did not feel they had time to give her the attention she deserved. They warned us about  Tilly’s  behavior regarding food by relating that she is a counter surfer and if food in a package is on a counter, she will get it and eat it, package and all. One time she  ate a whole bag of chocolate and ended up in the emergency room for treatment. We rescued her from a very chaotic environment (three other barking dogs, several cats and the house a disastrous mess) and then placed her with a foster mom in Phoenix . The foster mom lives alone in a calm, quiet, well-kept house but often dog sits for others . The foster noted several instances of food-grabbing and counter surfing, found out the hard way that  Tilly  was not housebroken, and quickly realized she was not leash-trained, either. One of the foster's sons has a board-and-train business and offered to take  Tilly  for a week at no charge (thank you!). The foster said  Tilly  came back much better. She was with the foster mom for four months and her undesirable behaviors diminished significantly during that time.

Tilly  was finally placed with an adoptive couple and their two sons in Chandler. They changed her name to  Sukhi , which means “happy.” The adopters related: 

True to her name, she seems happy all the time! Though it has only been a few months, we feel like she has always lived with us. Her favorite person is her dad and it doesn’t  take a rocket scientist to figure that out – she doesn’t let him go  out of her sight! She runs with him, plays with him and sleeps right next to his side of the bed! When she needs to snuggle or just needs a hug, she goes to her mom! Every day, she waits and greets our son when he’s back from school! She also knows that it’s treat time! She’s very sneaky – loves to steal clothes from laundry baskets! Leave your t-shirt on the couch or the bed, blink and she has it!  [Note: The foster mom also found that  Tilly , now  Sukhi , liked to gather any clothing, shoes, towels, etc, but she didn’t chew them, just liked to carry them around and build a hoarding pile.]  Loves to explore our backyard! We are lucky to have her!
