Arizona Golden Rescue

23-083 Barbie  is a beautiful 7-month-old female purebred Golden retriever puppy that was surrendered by a breeder in California who was downsizing her kennel. She was a last-minute, “take this one, too” decision by the breeder. She is a 7-month-old puppy whirlwind . When she was delivered to an adoptive couple in Casa Grande, the resident dog, a 19-month-old Golden named  Betsy , came out to greet her and there was an instant connection. The other resident dog, a 7-year-old Husky ( Beau ) did not show much in terest in  Barbie , although now that she has been with the family for a while he is more active. The family was warned that  Barbie  might try to eat rocks in the back yard, but they assured us they would always go out with her and watch her. She and  Betsy  have become best friends and play a lot, which helps  Barbie  get rid of some of that “wild child” energy. The adopter sent us this update a few days later: 

We have changed her name to  Maisey . She is doing well. She acts like she has lived with us forever. She's very comfortable and gets along with the other two, and the cat has even accepted her. She has gone in the bedtime kennel easily the past few nights. She is in our room with the other two so she's able to see all of us and sleeps soundly all night. I have tried to get still pictures of them together but I think they all know what I'm doing and start playing. We are working on her eating and drinking like there is no tomorrow – the puzzle bowl and no-drip water  dish have helped. She did figure out how to get the water bowl  dismantled so she can "swim" in it with her face, so I am working on getting her to leave it. She seems to be very happy and healthy, and we are pleased to have her. 

About 6 weeks later, an AGR representative talked with the adopter about this little girl. The adopter laughed and said they love her to pieces and she is a Hot Mess – has chewed numerous holes in their walls. Said she is like a stud finder, everywhere she chews is a stud.  Maisey  has brought them numerous nails, big rocks, chews their Sage bush and leaves the lower branches lying in the yard. She likes to dig holes in the yard too.  Maise  was finalized with an addendum for her spay when she reaches 1 year of age.
