24-077 Dakota is a five-year-old neutered male Golden Retriever. He came from a small home with a 6-month-old baby and the parents just didn’t have time for him. He had had obedience training and knew basic commands like sit, down, stay, place and wait. He is a dog that needs time to adjust to new people and situations, as he gets nervous and anxious until he feels comfortable. After being vetted at one of our partner veterinarians and spending some time at a foster’s in Phoenix, Dakota was placed with an adoptive family and their two children – from them he will definitely get the attention he deserves. It took Dakota only a short time with this family to feel right at home. After a little over three weeks, the adopter was almost begging to finalize the adoption! She told our follow-up caller the following: Dakota is still somewhat skittish, but I was aware of that from the letter that I was given when we adopted him. He isn't very good on a leash, but we will be taking him for some training. Dakota is a big cuddle bug. He likes watching cooking shows with the family and takes turns visiting each child's bedroom at night. Every morning, he goes out and does what I call yoga stretches on the grass. Dakota is a good eater. Didn't like the green beans, but I will try other veggies and fruits. The thing that made me the happiest was AGR arranged that Dakota would arrive for Christmas. Since our son still believes in Santa, this was the most perfect gift for our family. After owning Greyhounds, this is our first Golden and we all really love him!
