Kai, now known as Skyler, is a 6-month-old red Golden who is a very exuberant Golden puppy. His original owners requested AGR find a new home for him, as he was too active for their lifestyle and he tended to jump on their children. We were happy to place him with his new parents. Skyler did need a little bit of time to adjust to his new home and, like many dogs, had some digestive issues while trying to get used to his new living arrangements. Fortunately, he made a complete recovery and is now a fabulous Velcro dog. His new parents are very active, and he loves to accompany them on all of their outings. He especially likes to finish up his day with a game of fetch. His new mom sent us this note to keep us updated on his progress:
Skyler (formerly Kai) came into our lives on January 5, 2012. At 6 months old, weighing 61 pounds, he changed our lives forever! He is very active and keeps us on our toes. Every day Skyler and I do two workouts. He is doing great on leash work, and I am also working with him to cure him of some bad habits like jumping up on people and stealing things off the kitchen counter. When we first got Sky he wouldn’t even get into the car. We had to physically lift him in and out. He soon got over that because he loves to go places with us. He has become very attached to me and is always as close to me as he can get. We stay active and participate in a Jeep group, an ATV group and a flying group. Sky has gone on his first Jeep trip into the desert and everybody that met him said he was beautiful as well as calm and very well behaved. When we stopped for a bag lunch break, Sky was right at home with his own water bowl and food dish. Skyler is also learning to stay in his 5-acre yard right now, and he puts himself into his crate when he needs a nap. He has not been on an ATV ride yet, but his riding lessons will start on Monday because our friends are anxious for us to go ATVing with them. He also will learn to fly with us; I know he will love it. He has gone through a lot of changes in his little world in the last three weeks but he seems to love it and he loves to play ball after each workout. We are very blessed.
