Molly is a quite timid 5-yearold girl surrendered to us because the owner could not handle Molly’s somewhat antisocial behavior. Poor Molly was choosing to hide in the closet, wasn’t interested in human affection, and couldn’t handle the resident alpha Papillion. This is pretty indicative of typical puppy mill behavior. We are glad, in a case like this, that the owner realized their dog deserved more help than they could give. The owner had only had her a few months, and we don’t know Molly’s history before that, but it certainly could not have been good. Molly was truly blessed when her adopter stepped forward to gladly adopt her, giving her all the time and space she needed to recover her life. He reported that she initially set up shop in his laundry room and was quite friendly to him. He has now updated us further: Molly has turned into a real outdoors girl. She found a good buddy, a hound who lives next door, and almost every day we go out to one of the water or wilderness type parks for splashing, running through the mud, chasing rabbits, and having all sorts of fun. Molly’s buddy is the ring leader and he’s teaching Molly all the tracking and chasing tricks. She goes in the water and is tempted to swim, not yet though. Today she cleared a six-foot-wide-or-so irrigation ditch – quite the athlete. Molly is well behaved, has learned to climb stairs, and enjoys helping me work at my workstation. She loves to ride in cars, have her hair brushed, and be pampered. Can doggy bling be far behind? She’s still a shy girl...but that’s Molly. She’s a great companion and a great friend. Just took someone to understand her, and we are grateful to the adopter for the time and patience he has given this super girl. Welcome to your new life, Molly!
